At the end of each year, Pantone announces the color of the new coming year. And soon all the brands, especially in the beauty, fashion and furnishings industries, start to create products with that shade. Some brands could even pay to know in advance which is going to be the color of the year so they are going to be ready with the products.
It’s important to know each year which is going to be the color that is going to be everywhere the following year. This is good to know because you’ll need to incorporate it into some of your products, social media graphics, events and other.
Except for Rosa Quarz, Pantone 2016 color of the year that is still very much present in our lives and in almost every beauty, furniture and fashion products, usually, the color trend last just one year.
But do you know how does Pantone decide which is going to be the color of the year?
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of The Pantone Color Institute told the NY Times, that they look at a great many influences from fashion to sports, to nature, technology and they choose each year which is the leading element of their choice. This year Nature was the leading element and they chose Living Coral as the Pantone 2019 Color of the year: Living Coral recalls the coral reef and the vibrant color of the sunset; it is present in many places that we would like to visit and in others threatened by climate change and pollution and, finally, just as coral enriches marine life, we want to enrich this color and keep it alive.”
