There are so many resources available that boost our career: videos, podcasts, courses, webinars, panels and of course books.

During Christmas time we all have more time to read some good books and even better if we read a career and fashion book that motivate and inspire us while inform us at the same time.

I’m a big book lover and while until 5/6 years ago I only read novels, now I only read business/career books. I found them very informative and interesting and, by learning how other people have reached the success with their companies or in their life inspires me and I take some good actionable tips to improve my life and business as well.

During this upcoming Christmas Holiday, I’m going to read Shoe Dog, the book about Nike’s story which from reviews it looks like is very very good. I bought it when I was in London during the Fashion Awards and I cannot wait to read it.

I admit that I’m that kind of person who buys more than one books at a time because I truly love them and then I try to read at least one book per month.

So I decided to share some of my favorite career, business and fashion books that inspired me and have taught me a lot:

  1. How to be an overnight success

This is not the first time I’m recommending you this book. I love how Maria Hatzistefanis tells how she founded her two beauty brands Rodial and Nip and Fab. In the book, she explains everything, her challenges, strategies and how she went from working from home for the first years, to having a team and two beauty brands loved by celebrities and ver well established in the beauty industry. She’s also very honest about success and the fact that it doesn’t happen overnight in reality.

2. Crushing it

I bought this book in New York and I love it!  The author who also has a podcast, shares stories from other entrepreneurs and influencers who have pursued their dreams by building thriving businesses and extraordinary personal brands using social media platforms.

3. The new Fashion Rules

I just got this book from Amazon and I cannot wait to read it in January! One of my favorite influencer Victoria McGrath (hey, Victoria, if you’ll ever read this I would love to have you on The Glam Observer Podcast 😉 ) just released her first book that talks about the fashion industry, so I cannot wait to read it as it shouldn’t be another influencer autobiography book.

4. You are a badass

I read this book last summer and I must admit is one of my favorite ever. If you need a bit of confidence and motivation, this career book will inspire you and push you to believe in yourself. If you really believe in something, it could happen. If you need this kind of motivation, this book is made for you.

5. Start with why

I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on my reading list. The author starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over? START WITH WHY shows that the leaders who’ve had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way — and it’s the opposite of what everyone else does. So it looks like this book has the key to build the next million dollar business.

6. Big Magic

By sharing stories from her own life, as well as those from her friends and the people that have inspired her, Elizabeth Gilbert challenges us to embrace our curiosity, tackle what we most love and face down what we most fear. Whether you long to write a book, create art, cope with challenges at work, embark on a long-held dream, or simply to make your everyday life more vivid and rewarding, Big Magic will take you on a journey of exploration filled with wonder and unexpected joys.

7. The Woman I Wanted to Be

Diane von Furstenberg reflects on her life —from her childhood in Brussels to creating the dress that came to symbolize independence and power for generations of women. She opens up about her family and career, overcoming cancer, building a global brand, and devoting herself to empowering other women. Definetely a must read
