With so many different fashion schools all over the world, it’s very difficult to find the right fit for you. All schools offer different programs with majors in fashion design or fashion business, and the courses taught differ from school to school.

To help you with your choice of fashion school, we decided to interview some current and former student to give you all of the insider’s information.

The first school we talked about is Mod’Art International, then we presented you the Polimoda and  the FIT Fashion Institute of Technology. Today we talk about another italian school: the Moodart Fashion School in Verona.

Moodart was born not so long ago so when you enter it you’ll be catched by its young and cool atmosphere.

The school was funded by Marika and Elisa, two friends who shared the same passion about fashion and decided to fight for the school of their dreams: Moodart. At the beginning there was only one course, in Fashion styling, but today students can choose between lots of different courses and subjects:

  • One year courses/ advanced for students who have basic knowledge about fashion or who have a degree;
  • Biannual courses/ professional are for students who want to dive a little deeper in some subjects or for people who have just finished high school.

Moodart offers courses in: fashion styling & art direction, fashion photography, visual merchaindingmake up, event managment and digital strategy.

The school is based in Verona, Italy and most of Moodart’s students are Italian, but basic English knowledge is required to access the courses.

School lessons take place in a cool and modern building and the school provides two studios where students can shoot editorials both for school projects and personal ones.

Elena, former student of the Advanced Fashion photography course, says:

“The fashion photography course is amazing, your teachers are actually fashion photographers and stylists and that allows you to learn what’s really happening in the fashion world. You can relate to them not as a student but as a junior photographer or stylist and that’s really useful. During the year you have to manage different projects that allow you to experiment with different types of photography: advertising, commercial, lookbooks, editorials, still life… This is very useful in order to build your portfolio and to learn how each different type of photography requires a different marketing direction.
Moodart’s courses focus a lot on cinema and fashion films direction too which is a plus since these days brands and designers use mostly videos to showcase their products.”

Each class count 13 students max, this way each student can feel much closer to their teachers and be followed during his personal journey.

Moodart also sends its students at the Milano Fashion Week in Milan and Pitti in Florence to work and gain experience, also teachers usually manage to take students on their set so they can see how their teachers work.

I attended the advanced course in Fashion Styling and Art Direction last year and my favourite thing about the whole course has been the workshop in New York. I found it useful since we’ve also shot a fashion editorial while we were there.

Moodart offers workshops in different cities during its courses: Paris, London, New York… where students can live an alternative experience and learn about new fashion realities while working on their portfolio.

I don’t think perfect schools actually exist but Moodart offers pretty good services for its price.

Sabrina attended the advanced course in Make-up and she says that her biggest accomplishment was during her finals when a famous make-up artist complimented her for her work.

At the end of the course each student has to show to a committee his portfolio and a group project that will be reviewed during the final.

Moodart also offers its career day where students can meet brands and companies that can offer them internship opportunities.

Finding a school that fits your personality it’s really difficult so I suggest you to take personal interviews with each school and to really talk to teachers and other students. This could really help you and it could be the first step towards your career goals!
