How Shama Hyder started her own digital marketing business

Shama Hyder 29 is the CEO of her digital marketing business : they offer digital marketing advices, they manage the web marketing of different companies and they teach social media marketing . 20 people work with Shama today.

She’s a truly perfect example of Business Woman .

Shama Hyder moved to US from Indira when she was 9 . She attended  McCombs School of Business in Texas because she thought she wanted to become a consultant. She changed course when she realized that communication fascinated her much more.

Her graduation thesis was based on Twitter , that year it was introduced for the first time at the New Media Expo 2007 in Las Vegas. She already had a passion for digital marketing .

Despite her successful resume she couldn’t find her dream job.

The digital marketing has become a very important part of the business for a couple of years thanks to the popularity of social networks. Today everything is different. How many times have you checked Google before buying something? Today we search for opinions on the web, on social networks, that’s why digital marketing is becoming more important than tv spot or magazine advertising!

Shama Hyder couldn’t find her job because her kind of job didn’t exist at that time! That’s why she decided to move to Dallas where she started her first digital marketing blog “After the Launch” .By sharing her knowledge , some companies began to contact her for advices. She was charging for consultancy, that’s how her business started.

At first her clients were small companies “ One of my first clients was an e-commerce store that sold pet food. I offered consulting in how to set up a blog and a website, execute social media, and educate them on search.” she said during the interview for Cosmopolitan .

Word of mouth brought her new clients and within a few months she had to hire a team to support the workload.

She wrote a book “The Zen of Social Media Marketing” self published as ebook firstly and thensince sales were growing it was acquired by a publisher . Now her book is used in universities to teach social media.

The blog has evolved and has become a company.

Shama Hyder is now CEO of her company “Marketing Zen Group” with counseling in digital marketing, courses on marketing and manages the online presence of many companies. The group consists of 20 people who do not have a headquarter but work online from around the world! “If I have a request from London, I go for a week to work and explore”

Shama Hyder is a true example of Business Woman . She’s worked hard to get her dream job and she invented it from nothing when it didn’t exist ! Her story teaches us to believe in our capabilities and to never  stop even when there are difficulties .
