If you’re searching for jobs at Kering, chances are you’re aiming high, and you should.

Kering is one of the most powerful luxury fashion groups in the world, home to brands like Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, and Bottega Veneta. It’s also one of the smartest entry points if you want to build a serious career in luxury fashion.

In this article, I’m breaking down exactly how to get a job at Kering, what Kering careers really look like behind the scenes, and what I would do if I had to apply again today. If you want, I’ve also explained that even more specifically in my YouTube video.

And yes, I’m speaking from experience.

I started my career in the fashion industry with an internship at Alexander McQueen, working inside the Kering group. I was part of the eCommerce team managing the online business of several Kering brands, including Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. I got that role without real experience, connections, or a fashion degree.

Since then, I’ve helped more than 4,000 students and young professionals break into luxury fashion through Glam Observer. So in this article I am breaking down what works based on my experience both working inside and also as a mentor today.

If your goal is to work for the biggest fashion brands in the industry, understanding how jobs at Kering really work is one of the smartest moves you can make.

What Is Kering?

Kering Is Not a Brand, It’s a Luxury Fashion Group

Kering is not just one company. It’s a global luxury group founded in 1962 that became a pure luxury player in 2018. Today, it owns and manages some of the most influential luxury maisons in the world, including:

  • Gucci
  • Saint Laurent
  • Bottega Veneta
  • Balenciaga
  • Alexander McQueen
  • Brioni
  • Boucheron
  • Pomellato

When people search for jobs at Kering, they’re often not aware that they can either:

  • Work directly at Kering headquarters, or
  • Work inside one of the brands belonging to the group

Both options fall under Kering careers, and both can be incredible career moves depending on your goals.

Why Jobs at Kering Are One of the Best Entry Points in Luxury Fashion

If you want to work in luxury fashion, groups like Kering are strategic because:

  • They own multiple brands, which means more job and internship opportunities
  • They hire across creative, business, and corporate functions
  • They invest heavily in talent, training, and long-term careers
  • They offer international mobility between brands and countries

Career Opportunities at Kering: Departments You Can Work In

When people think about jobs in luxury fashion, they often imagine only creative roles. In reality, Kering hires across many departments.

These roles focus on brand image, storytelling, and creative direction:

  • Creative Design

  • Communication & Marketing

Business Functions at Kering

These roles focus on strategy, performance, and commercial growth:

Corporate & Support Functions at Kering

These teams make the entire group function at scale:

This means that Kering careers are not only for designers. Marketing, PR, eCommerce, merchandising, finance, and operations roles are just as important and often more accessible at entry level.

Are Jobs at Kering Competitive?

Yes. Extremely.

But competitive does not mean impossible.

What makes most candidates fail is not lack of experience, connections, or a fashion degree. It’s the fact that they improvise their application.

Luxury fashion groups like Kering don’t reward generic CVs. If you apply without a strategy, you’ll be one of the hundreds of applicants who get rejected and then assume they’re “not good enough”.

They are good enough. They just didn’t prepare correctly.

How to Get a Job at Kering Without Experience

Start With Fashion Internships at Kering

If you’re at the beginning of your career, Kering internships are your best entry point.

The good news is that Kering posts more internships than permanent roles, across almost every department. This makes internships the most realistic way to:

  • Work at Kering without experience
  • Get inside brands like Saint Laurent or Balenciaga
  • Build luxury fashion experience on your CV

Look at the departments listed above. Inside each one, you’ll find multiple internship opportunities throughout the year.

Where Are Kering Internships and Jobs Located?

Although Kering’s headquarters are in France, this is a global luxury group.

You can find jobs at Kering and its brands in cities such as:

  • Paris
  • Milan
  • London
  • New York
  • Dubai

For example:

  • Saint Laurent jobs in Paris or Los Angeles
  • Balenciaga careers in Paris or New York
  • Bottega Veneta roles in Milan

Location is rarely a limitation if you’re flexible and strategic.

Where to Find Jobs at Kering

The Best Place to Search for Kering Careers

The first and most important place to look for jobs at Kering is the official Kering careers website.

There, you can:

  • Filter by brand
  • Filter by department
  • Filter by location
  • Filter by experience level

Once you find a role that interests you, do not apply immediately.

This is where most candidates go wrong.

The Kering Hiring Process: What to Expect

The hiring process for jobs at Kering varies by brand and department, but luxury fashion companies rarely hire after just one interview.

You can expect:

  • An initial HR interview
  • One or more interviews with the team or manager
  • Sometimes a task, test, or case study

When I applied for my internship at Alexander McQueen, I went through two interview rounds, and that’s still very common today.

Study Kering Before You Apply (This Is Non-Negotiable)

If you want to get a job at Kering, you must prove that you’re not applying randomly.

Kering wants to see that you genuinely care about:

  • The group
  • The specific brand you’re applying to
  • Their values and culture

Before applying, you should:

  • Read the “About Us” and “Values” sections on Kering’s website
  • Study the brand’s fashion shows and campaigns
  • Visit the store if possible and observe how the brand communicates
  • Understand how the brand fits into the Kering ecosystem

This knowledge will help you tailor your CV, cover letter, and portfolio and answer interview questions with confidence.

Understanding Kering’s Values (And Why Recruiters Care)

Kering clearly states that creativity is its most precious heritage.

Each house within the group was born from a strong creative point of view, and that heritage defines everything they do today, from products to experiences.

When you apply for jobs at Kering, your application should reflect:

  • Respect for craftsmanship
  • Understanding of brand heritage
  • Awareness of culture and creativity

Luxury is not just about products. It’s about emotion, storytelling, and long-term vision.

How to Prepare a Strong Application for Kering

Getting a job in fashion nowadays is no longer about sending a generic CV, especially for these big luxury companies that are competitive.

Preparation is what separates candidates who feel overwhelmed from those who get interviews.

Most applicants send:

  • A generic CV
  • A cover letter saying how much they “love luxury”
  • Zero proof they understand what the role actually involves

Recruiters don’t reject candidates because they don’t have experience.

They reject applicants when they can’t see them in the role.

How I’d Prepare for This If I Were You Today

As you probably know, I started my career at Alexander McQueen in the ecommerce department so yes I was in Kering and I was able to get the job back then without experience so if I were applying to this role now, this is exactly what I would do.

Step 1: Choose one function and commit to it. Avoid applying to all four programs, especially if you can’t clearly justify why. Applying to multiple options can signal confusion to recruiters, and that won’t help your application.

Step 2: Carefully read the job description and analyze the keywords and requirements. Take notes on the responsibilities and the skills required.

Then, do in-depth research on Kering: who founded the company, when, read the About Us and Careers / Work With Uspages, and learn as much as possible about the company and its values. This information will be extremely useful when writing your cover letter.

Step 3: Compare the job requirements with your own experience and education to identify common points.

If you find matches, make sure to highlight them clearly in your CV using bullet points, especially in the education and experience sections.

If you can’t find common points, act quickly. Research the missing skills or knowledge and start filling the gaps as soon as possible.

For example, if the job description mentions industry KPIs or specific terms you’re not familiar with, research them. If Excel skills are required and you don’t have them, you could take the Excel for Fashion course and add it to your CV to demonstrate that skill.

Step 4: Start building your resume—but don’t reuse the one you already have.

Instead, use the notes you took from the job description and build the resume starting from there, using a reverse-engineering approach. Begin with the skills section and make it highly aligned with the role.

If you want to learn how to build a strong skills section, I recommend the Fashion Resume Class.

Then move on to your education and experience sections. In the education section, you can also include relevant online courses if they are aligned with the position.

Step 5: Move on to your cover letter. Don’t use it to repeat what’s already on your CV. Instead, use it to add context, explain your motivation, and bring your resume to life by showing why your profile is a strong fit for the role.

Imagine a recruiter asking you: “Why should I hire you over other candidates?” Answer that question in your cover letter.

Step 6: Record a video cover letter using the same message and add the link both to your resume and your cover letter, so recruiters can watch it if they want. (I teach this inside the Break Into the Fashion Industry course.)

Step 7: Prepare a third document: a portfolio or a case study related to Kering or one of its brands.

For example, you could include a project like the Saint Laurent Retail Activation from the Fashion Internship Simulator.

Step 8: Ask ChatGPT to polish your application, spot mistakes, or suggest improvements. Be careful here—if used incorrectly, you risk creating an application that looks like everyone else’s.

If you want to learn how to use ChatGPT the right way for applications, I recommend Fashion Recruiter in a Pocket.

Step 9: Start preparing for the job interview by simulating questions and answers in advance, either on your own or with ChatGPT (this is also covered inside Fashion Recruiter in a Pocket).

Inside the Break Into the Fashion Industry course, you’ll also find interview Q&A simulations.

One Last Thing I Want You to Remember

Opportunities like this don’t come often.

And when they do, thousands of students apply blindly.

My advice?

Don’t be one of them.

Furthermore remember, some of the most influential people in luxury work behind the scenes, at group level, shaping decisions that impact multiple brands worldwide. So just because these people are less on the spotlight compared to creative directors, editors, stylists… it doesn’t mean that their roles are not important, on the contrary they are critical.

If you love fashion but are drawn to strategy, business, numbers, people or systems, Kering Corporate Future is not “less fashion”.

It is fashion at its core.

You don’t stand out when you have a perfect degree or more experience.

You stand out when your applications are aligned with the role and the company, when they are intentional.

And if you do this right, internships like this stop feeling “out of reach” and start feeling strategic.
