After the summer break, I’m happy to be back with the new season of The Glam Observer Podcast with a new great episode.
I’m honored that Dana Thomas has accepted my invitation. Dana Thomas is the author of the new book Fashionopolis The Price of Fast Fashion and the Future of Clothes. She also wrote Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano and Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster.
Dana has a long and great career in the fashion industry as a journalist even though she doesn’t see herself working in fashion but for The New York Times and so in media, where she covers fashion its business and the impact of it on society.
In this episode, we talk about one of the hottest themes of the fashion industry: sustainability.
The average garment today is worn 7 times before its thrown away and only 1% of clothes are recycled
so it’s time we became aware of the impact of fashion and that we act for a better fashion. Together with Dana we discuss how fashion can become sustainable, what consumers should do to be more sustainable, if you can be sustainable buying fast fashion,  the impact of Instagram and the influencers on our shopping habits and what they should do to change it and also about the future of fashion jobs related to sustainability.Â
This podcast episode is a must for everyone: students, fashion professionals, consumers because you’ll learn the impact of (fast) fashion on the environment and what you can do to make fashion sustainable.
