(without sounding like everyone else)
ChatGPT is everywhere right now.
Some people love it. Some people hate it.
A few days ago, on the 24th, I posted something very simple on Instagram: fashion Christmas trees created with AI. The post got over 8K likes… and also a few comments saying they were unfollowing me because I used AI.
And honestly, that surprised me.
I’m not a graphic designer. I have ideas, concepts, visuals in my head, but I don’t have the technical skills to turn them into images from scratch. So I used a very simple AI tool, Canva AI, to generate those images. It took me about one hour.
Without AI, those Christmas trees would have stayed exactly where they were: in my head.
AI didn’t replace my creativity.
It executed it.
And this is exactly the point most people miss.
How many times have you wanted to do something, create something, apply for something, but felt blocked because you didn’t have the technical skills, the design skills, or the confidence?
This is the real power of AI.
It gives you skills you didn’t have before. And not in a bad way.
AI Is Not Replacing You
AI is not replacing humans.
It’s not meant to.
For example, AI didn’t generate those Christmas trees on its own. I still had to guide the tool very clearly. I had to explain how I wanted the Gucci Christmas tree, the Saint Laurent one, the aesthetic, the mood. You can’t just write a generic prompt like “generate a Miu Miu Christmas tree” and expect magic.
AI needs direction.
And in 2026, you simply can’t ignore it if you don’t want to be left behind.
The beauty of AI is that it can help you do things you didn’t even think were possible before. Including something very interesting for your career.
You can literally have a fashion mentor or a fashion recruiter in your pocket.
Why Most People Get Average Results With ChatGPT (and why you should not use it like Google)
ChatGPT can be extremely powerful.
But only when you set it up correctly.
I’ve been using it consistently over the past year. In bad ways and in good ways. And I can tell immediately when someone is using ChatGPT in a generic way versus when they’re using it properly.
When I used it like Google, fast and lazily, I got average results.
When I slowed down and gave it the right context, everything changed.
I have been studying AI a lot lately.
Did you know that there are mega prompts?
Yes, they’re longer prompts.
But not just in terms of text. In terms of details and context.
For example, my cover letter prompt is about 20 lines long, with six bullet points and a list of context you need to paste into ChatGPT.
That’s what happens when you use AI correctly.
You don’t just ask ChatGPT to “write”.
You explain the situation, the role, your background, and what you want to achieve.
The more context you give, the better the output.
Most people don’t do this. And that’s why they think ChatGPT doesn’t work.
One important thing I want to clarify.
What I’m teaching you here is not a list of magic questions.
It’s a system.
A system designed to help you think, position yourself, and make career decisions the way fashion recruiters and hiring managers actually do.
Most people use ChatGPT like Google. One question, one answer, copy, move on.
That’s not how professionals use tools.
Professionals use tools to clarify, challenge, refine, and iterate.
How I Turned ChatGPT Into a Fashion Career Tool
Over the past three months, I’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT in a very specific way. I wanted to see if it could actually help with fashion careers in a smart and realistic way.
So I uploaded several resumes, cover letters, and portfolios from my students. I tested different prompts, I refined them and adjusted them again and again to get better results.
Why did I do this?
Because I wanted to help you more and you know I teach only on practical things I have experience on, never just theory.
ChatGPT can help you in many areas of your life, but when it comes to fashion careers, most people don’t know how to use it strategically.
For example, it can help you understand which fashion job is actually made for you, instead of randomly applying everywhere.
What Recruiters Are Seeing Right Now
As you know, I regularly speak with luxury fashion recruiters. It’s part of my job to stay updated and make sure my strategies actually work in today’s hiring market.
Something interesting has come up for 2026.
Recruiters are saying that resumes are no longer messy or badly written like they used to be. The grammar is better. The formatting is nicer.
But the problem now is different.
More and more people are using ChatGPT and AI to generate their resumes, cover letters, and even portfolios. And when it’s not done the right way, it can actually hurt your applications.
Right now, almost everyone is using AI:
- to write resumes
- to draft cover letters
And recruiters are noticing something worrying.
Not better applications.
Just more of the same.
If you use ChatGPT the wrong way, you don’t stand out faster.
You disappear faster.
Why Generic AI Use Is Dangerous
Most people use prompts like:
“Help me build a fashion CV”
“Write a cover letter I can use for a fashion internship”
These prompts won’t give you valid results.
ChatGPT can be incredibly powerful, but only when you tell it who it should be and what you need from it.
Right now, recruiters are seeing:
- better grammar
- nicer formatting
- more confident language
But not better candidates.
AI didn’t raise the bar.
It exposed who actually has clarity.
Recruiters don’t hire polish.
They hire clarity.
How to Use ChatGPT the Smart Way
AI doesn’t automatically know:
- which role you should target
- what to emphasize or remove
- what makes you credible at entry level
Unless you guide it.
Used correctly, ChatGPT can help you answer questions like:
- Is this role actually right for me?
- Does this resume make sense?
- What part of my application is weakening me?
AI flattens people when it’s used lazily.
If your application could describe any candidate, it won’t be remembered.
Most people don’t struggle because they don’t have access to AI.
They struggle because they don’t know how to use it strategically.
What You Can Actually Use ChatGPT For in Your Fashion Job Search
When used the right way, ChatGPT can support you at every stage of your fashion job search, not just the writing part.
Here’s what it can help you with:
- Write your resume, but in a strategic way
Not just rewriting what you already have, but helping you understand what to highlight, what to remove, and how to present your experiences so they make sense for fashion roles. - Understand which fashion job you should actually target
Based on your background, interests, and skills, ChatGPT can help you narrow down which roles are realistic and aligned with you, instead of applying randomly. - Translate a non-fashion background into a fashion one
This is huge if you studied marketing, business, engineering, communication, or something not strictly fashion. ChatGPT can help you reframe your experiences so recruiters see relevance, not gaps. - Identify the skills you should have for a specific role
Not generic “fashion skills”, but the exact skills required for that job, so you know what to work on, learn, or emphasize. - Write the right cover letter for that specific job
Not a generic cover letter you send everywhere, but one tailored to the role, the brand, and the level you’re applying for. - Help you generate the right portfolio ideas/projects based on the role you want to get
- Review your portfolio like a manager from Saint Laurent
So you can understand what looks strong, what feels unnecessary, and what doesn’t match the brand or role. - Review your cover letter like a recruiter working at Vogue
To see how it would actually be read, not how you hope it will be read. - Prepare for job interviews based on your CV, cover letter, and portfolio
ChatGPT can help you understand which questions you’re likely to be asked, why they’re asked, and how to answer in a clear, confident, and relevant way without sounding rehearsed. - and more!
Well, if you want ChatGPT to help you do these things in just 2 minutes, I prepared a list of prompts you can just copy/paste now on ChatGPT to start getting the results!
