Since we are all home, I thought this would have been the perfect time to talk about remote jobs in fashion. However, this is not something that you have to consider just now during this global crisis but anytime you can’t move to a new city or you prefer to work in fashion from home.
If until some years ago, the only way to get in fashion was to move to one of the fashion capitals such as New York, London, Milan or Paris where there are the most jobs and internships opportunities as most of the companies are located there, the digital space has changed everything and allowed many to be able to work in fashion from anywhere.
Everything you need to work in fashion from home is actually just a connection and a laptop.
Of course, this means that not all the fashion careers are available remotely and despite the advancement of the technologies, the majority of fashion companies yet require you to get to the office every single morning if you want to work there. In fact most of the people who work in fashion work in the office. However I’m curious to see if something is going to change now that many roles and people are experimenting with working from home, perhaps after this COVID crisis there will be more remote jobs including also roles such as the buyer, merchandiser or designer that you usually cannot find as remote opportunities.
Listen to this new podcast episode to know what are the careers in fashion available remotely and how to get one.
