With the high competition of this industry, it is common to think that we must accept any kind of job we get and that we also need to consider it a fortune. But the reality is not like that. Working in the right company and that meets all your requirements and doing a job you like, is essential to ensure that you are more productive, motivated and happy at work. Working in a company that you love is not only an advantage for you, but also for the company, because a happy worker who has a passion for his or her work, brings in more results.
Although someone may think to choose jobs from salaries, there are other more important you should consider before accepting/applying for a job.
So here’s what to take into consideration when you have to choose the fashion company to apply for or accept from a new job.
- Company’s values
Does the ethic of the company match your values? If you are an animalist, you don’t want to work for a company that produces real fur, if you care for the environment, you will not be happy to work for a company that is not sustainable. Do you want to work for a company that does not respect workers’ rights? You may not have thought of these things until now, but if you have strong values then it will be better to check before applying or you will find yourself not supporting some business decisions and feeling guilty about contributing to it, even for a small part. Every company and brand has different values, you can read more about them on their website, where they usually have pages such as company values, about, out story…
- The Location
When you apply for a company you should see where their offices are located. An office in the central building of the city is indeed more inviting. Although this is not a key detail, it is good to know where the company’s office is located and how far it is from your home. 2 hours of traffic in the morning are not the best, so maybe then you will be forced to move to another apartment. Better to evaluate this too first.
- Employees
Do some research on LinkedIn on the company employees. Are there 90% of men and a few women? Are they all older than 48? You’ll spend more time with your coworkers than with any other person, so make sure you like and admire the people you’ll work with.
- Benefits
Some companies offer very incentive benefits, so if you find yourself having to choose between two of your favorite companies, maybe you would prefer the one with the most benefits. Benefits could include gym subscriptions, meals, business trips, travel expenses, days off, the possibility to work a few days a month from home, discounts on products, special employee sales and more
Do not be attracted just by the prestigious name of a company or a good salary. Evaluate your priorities and try to understand what is important to you considering your lifestyle before that your job becomes a pain.
