Dolce & Gabbana has canceled the fashion show in China, Shanghai scheduled for November 21st, 2018, because of racial accusation. It all started with a spot where a Chinese model was attempting to eat Italian food with chopsticks. Immediately accused of racism, the video was removed after 24 hours, but had already been shared on Chinese social platforms and Instagram.

The situation has precipitated completely following offensive comments and direct messages on Instagram by Stefano Gabbana and the official Dolce & Gabbana account.

An official announcement of the Chinese model agency stated that 24 models refused to show. The @diet_prada account reported the whole story.

A few hours ago Dolce & Gabbana posted on Instagram declaring to have been hacked and apologizing for the incident, as well as the account of Stefano Gabbana. No one seems to believe this announcement by the two accounts and someone has asked if Instagram can check if this hacking has actually occurred.

The excuse of the hacker is made less credible by the previous controversy on social following some offensive comments from the account of Stefano Gabbana against Selena Gomez, “You’re really ugly” or against Chiara Ferragni, commenting CHEAP under the photo of her Dior wedding dress, or against the designer Stella McCartney.

In fashion, everyone dreams of working in the most famous companies and Dolce & Gabbana has always been an Italian historical icon recognized all over the world. But will it still be like this?

When we choose the company we want to work for, what do we consider? In this post, I explained the things to consider, which are not just salaries or if a brand produces fabulous clothes. There are also other values such as moral and ethical values that must be considered.

I contacted a girl I know and who had applied for an internship at Dolce & Gabbana, to ask her what she thought of all this and if she still wanted to work for Dolce & Gabbana. She confirmed that if the company calls her, she will refuse because moral integrity is more important to her.

A courageous decision when today getting an internship especially at a large company, is a great achievement. I support her decision, because I think that you will never work well and you will never feel satisfied and happy in a company if you don’t share its values. Although this situation does not directly affect all Dolce & Gabbana employees, some of them may feel resentful and perhaps feel guilty for being part of it. What consequences will this have? Will someone resigns?
