I want to provide the best content to you GO Member, that’s why I’ll share not what I know, but I’ll ask professionals their opinions.

Yesterday I published a new episode of The Glam Observer Podcast and it was about using Instagram to boost your business/blog. I asked Brian, Digital Marketing Strategist at Buffer, to share with us his top tips to grow followers organically and quickly and if you have not yet, I suggest you listen to that episode because his tips are practical and the best I have ever heard.

Today I want to share with you also tips from other experts, that’s why I asked Chloè Digital, the tech team who takes care of Glam Observer but also big blogs such as Gal Meets Glam and The Chriselle Factory, to share with us their best tips for using social platforms to drive traffic to your blog

Facebook
Typically, Facebook referred traffic tends to have high engagement (in comparison to other social media platforms) with the most potential to spend an extended period of time on each page. Research states, Facebook users account for 100 million hours of video content watched on the internet every day, and that the best video length is about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Why not incorporate video in some of your blog posts? You could create videos to accompany your ‘how to’ posts, to re-cap an event, or to provide a behind-the-scenes look into an aspect of your life. The possibilities are endless!

Twitter
Twitter users tend to be highly engaged by images! According to Buffer, tweets that include images tend to gain 150% more retweets than tweets that don’t include them. And tweets with animated GIFs get 167% more click-throughs than tweets with images. This doesn’t mean that from now on you should always (and only) post animated gifs in blog posts, but when tailoring blog posts to specific audiences the first step is to include what they like! I would include a gif in your next blog post tailored to your Twitter audience, and see if it keeps them further engaged! Check sites like GIPHY, PopKey, and Reddit’s top GIFs sub-reddit for animated GIFs. GIPHY also has a GIF maker to help you make your own GIFs. Have fun!

Instagram
The best way to keep an Instagram follower engaged is to firstly ensure your visual communication is on point! Be creative with your imagery. For instance, in a ‘how to’ blog post why not provide images for each step? Try your hand at flatlays, or venture to quirky locations to get images that really express and convey the concepts of your posts well. Finally, ensure your picture quality stays consistent. Instagram followers are drawn by imagery, so keep them engaged on your site with your unique image aesthetic and style!
