Fashion internships are the key to getting a job in the fashion industry, whether it’s to gain valuable experience or impress the company enough to hire you.  When it comes to fashion internships the hardest part is compromise, you have to put in a lot of time into the things you love possibly without pay to invest in your future.  I think a lot of people have a hard time grasping the idea of internships so they try to avoid it and end up not working in fashion or maybe not what they initially wanted to do.

You have the opportunity to do many different fashion internships to help you decide which area of the industry is best for you and definitely take advantage of that because knowing different areas of the industry will help you immensely in whatever job you land.  You might find a job you always thought you wanted, to be not what you expected and vice versa, that’s why fashion internships are a great time investment in your career, instead of finding out you hate the job you’ve been working on getting for years.

We know the fashion industry is a competitive industry, with all the different fashion bloggers out there it can be hard to make a name for yourself within the industry, and internships can help you do that.  The more internships you do the more incredible people you will meet and if you impress them enough they will remember your name and that is GOLD in this industry.  Really take advantage of any and all opportunities that come up because everything you do will be a chance to prove yourself.

If you’re goal isn’t so much to work for a company, but instead own your own business then you will have to get experience somehow and getting an internship in your desired field will not only give you the knowledge to build your own company but also the confidence.  I know a lot of people right out of school just want to get started on launching their business which is great, but make sure you know what you’re doing and have a solid understanding of the industry and your specific field.  When you land an internship don’t go into it thinking “I don’t need to work that hard because I’m not staying anyway”, even if you have a plan to launch your own company you still need to prove yourself to your superiors.  Those people will remember you and not in a good way, you never know when your paths will cross again and making long-lasting professional relationships is crucial for having your own business.  Impress your peers and the clients at all times.

Everyone always asks “How do I get a job in fashion when all the jobs require experience but I need to get experience?” FASHION INTERNSHIPS! This is where you will get industry experience and also proves you’re a hard worker and dedicated to this industry if you do multiple internships and get good reviews.

You can find fashion internships pretty easily in this industry so always keep your eyes open on social media, blogs, and even approach companies asking if you can intern for them, it never hurts to ask.  If you’re one who vowed never to intern you won’t go far in your career, and your dream job won’t just be handed to you.  Interning will not only give you work experience but also life experience.  It will teach you how to persevere, have a good work ethic, and stay determined during adversity.
